She Gets an A+!

Ok, so I admittedly got a little snap happy with this little cutie, but how could I not?!?!  Kamryn is 4 months old and this is usually a very difficult age to photograph babies at because they aren't sleepy and floppy like they were when they were newborns, and they aren't strong enough to sit up on their own, so you have to get creative, (not to mention it was incredibly overcast outside so I was working with limited natural light). Well...we hit the jackpot today with Kamryn!  She was a perfect angel, she barely made a peep the whole time and not once did she protest tummy time so I took advantage and snapped away!  Kamryn has an older brother who is exactly one month younger than my son and she gives me hope that I could end up with a nice, calm  and low maintenance second child!  HA!  I love her beautiful peaches and cream complexion and her perfect little mouth.  I look forward to photographing this little sweetie and her big brother in the future as they grow!  Enjoy!

He Had His Own Plans!

This was by far one of the most intimate shoots I have done.  I had planned on photographing this little guy at home, but he clearly had plans of his own!  I did his mama's maternity pictures a few weeks before, and although it wasn't ideal, we did this shoot in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) at 4 days old.  With the nature of the NICU, we had no idea when he would be heading home and mom and dad didn't want to miss out on capturing these first few fleeting days of life.  These were shot on a quiet evening and little man was incredibly alert for only being four days old.  I expected to take all sleeping shots, but as we should have known at this point, he had his own plans!!!!  I think they still came out great for the little bit we were able to move him, and it was so sweet watching mom and baby interact and fall in love with each other.  A major perk of photographing babies is getting to be a part of these interactions and the wonderful chats I get to have with parents.  Mom shared some of her emotions, fears and dreams about being a new mother, and I gave her a good laugh or two by comiserating with a few parenting stories of my own...like the time I was convinced I had accidentally taken my sons arms out of socket! (Which I thankfully did not.  Who knew babies were so limber?)  There is just nothing better in the world than being near new life.

Their World is About to Be Rocked!!!!

I'm kind of posting these in reverse, but I want to be able to show this family's journey to bringing home thier precious little boy.  I shot these matenity photos when mom was 7 months pregnant with baby Max.  Dad was out of town, but both mom and I had the day free so we decided to go ahead and shoot....thank goodness we shot these when we did, because much to mom's surprise Max decided he was ready to make his enterance into the world and mom ended up in the hospital a week later!

Bonus Baby Wil!

This little guy was know affectionately to his family as "bonus baby" while in utero!  He has an older brother and sister, so he was a "bonus baby"....get it? :) His sex was a surprise and as soon as he was born it was obvious he was the perfect piece of the puzzle to complete this awesome family!  He was two weeks old at this shoot and such a trooper.  He slept through his brother and sister as well as my toddler playing LOUDLY in the same room.  I'm certain his ability to block them out will serve him well in the years to come!  I was able to capture some really sweet moments with he and his mama. So personal and sweet! Enjoy!

Fun in the Sun (and Water) with my 35 mm Lens!

This weekend brought lots of family fun!  My niece Tatum's 4th birthday party, my nephew Nolan's baseball game (both of which I'll post pics of later), and an overnight stay at Grammy and Papaw's house for the Pierson's!  Sunday morning we were outside playing in their backyard when Grammy decided to water her flowers.  This of course instantly caught the attention of Cash and my nephew Reese who was also over visiting.  As the old adage goes, what happens at Grammy's house.....soon both of the boys were soaked and it turned out to be the perfect time for me to practice shooting with my new 35mm lens outdoors.  These pictures turned out to be some of my favorite I have ever taken of Cash as you can see sheer JOY in his face!  His sweet face warms my heart!

Full Circle With Baby Max

I had the pleaseure of photographing this squishy little angel a couple of weeks ago.  Not only did I do his mommy's maternity phots, but after he was born he had to stay in the NICU for a week and a half, and his parents invited me in to photograph him there, and then asked me to shoot him again when he had gone home and was free of all his 'tethers' in the NICU.  He was sleepy, snuggly and happy to be home and I couldn't have asked for a more well behaved subject!  How awesome to see this amazing family's journey come full circle!
